How is the shortfall of Paediatric Nurses, affecting families in need?

TFS Healthcare are working with our passionate sister company Innovate Care Group. The Innovate Care Group provides complex care services to individuals of all ages, from birth to end of life, with a focus on delivering highly personalised care in people’s own home environments. They are dedicated to improving the quality of life for both our individuals in need of care and their surrounding family.

One of the amazing families they are working with, based in High Wycombe are increasing their team but are seeing a lack of Paediatric Nurses in the current market. The position is in urgent need where the Paediatric Nurse is providing versatile individual care for a lovely little boy. He is in need of  Paediatric Nurses who are prepared and understanding of his unique needs. These healthcare professionals will be empathetic, warm and kind as well as naturing, loving and fun. The lovely family were kindly able to provide us with some more information about him.

“Our son is a two-year-old twin, who until September 2021, had never left hospital. He has spent most of his life in a hospital environment, when we were finally able to bring him home, it would require constant care. He is a bright, bubbly little boy, born with a rare muscle disease, which is linked with myotubular myopathy, meaning he needs full-time qualified care, in addition to what we as a family can provide our little boy. There is sadly no cure for his condition, but it can be managed with the right care by a qualified Paediatric Nurse.

Due to the rarity of his condition, he currently needs someone who is very well versed with tracheostomy care, ventilation, and deep suctioning. He requires regular physiotherapy, at least twice per day, with a cough assist. We have identified that he has no allergies but has also got gastrostomy.

Our little boy currently lives at home, in High Wycombe, with his family, which has helped cultivate a special bond between him and his twin sister, who is very important to him. He does currently have a routine where he spends the mornings in his cot then we have lots of activity times throughout the day on the couch in our living room, he thoroughly enjoys this time! We have a very close-knit family around us, where they appreciate and want to spend time with him. Our son also really enjoys seeing his grandparents and we will often make a trip to Stevenage so they can spend some quality time together. He will also sometimes spend time with his aunty. It’s very important to us that our son has our family to support him, but we are in urgent need of a Paediatric Nurse to make his life the best it can be!”
